Fabric For Cushions

How many square yards are needed to cover cushions in a standard 13' Boler and what type of fabric works best? 100% cotton? cotton-poly blend? I'd like to hear your opinions based on your experience .. thanx

I don't know how much goes onto Boler cushions, but I definitely would avoid cotton, wool or other natural fibers. Sunbrella and other manufacturers offer indoor/outdoor fabrics, material you can use on patio furniture and such. It is mildew resistant, and dries easier.

Sunbrella would be great, and expensive I think. Do some research to find out what is mildew resistant.

I got some very inexpensive (practically free) cotton duck type fabric that I made a bunk cover out of. I was very sad to see mildew on the bottom. I am sure we don't have a leak and that it is just from humidity. Also the moisture from my body going through the cushion at night.

Bought some plastic grid thingies that boaters use under their bunks for air circulation and will change my practically free fabric with some other practically free fabric. When I search for a replacement it will not be an untreated cotton type fabric!

Now where does one find Sunbrella practically free? Oh, one could move to the desert where they don't have to worry about mildew.

Olefin is an excellent fabric for trailer cushions. This is probably more than you wanted to know about it, but it doesn't say anything about almost "free"! http://www.fabrics.net/amyolefin.asp

Bought all my fabric from this guy on E-bay here is a item number (400034798514) use it then check out his E-bay store
He's cheaper than anyone I've found and it's industrical grade fabric.....hope this helps RANDY

They have some quality, beautiful commercial seating fabrics (Herman Miller, Knoll, and others...). They list weights, fabric content, and double=rub test count. in the descriptions. They will send a limited number of samples.

I have used them, and they were great.

Check the classifieds on the Casitaclub.com cause I saw a complete set of unused cushion covers from a 2009 Casita LD that might work for you. $150 or BO as I recall. Might work for you.

I'm working on a Scamp doing the same thing. Anyone know around how much fabric these type of campers need? I found a great fabric over the weekend at an amazing $2 a yard, but after taking all my current cushion covers off, I'm thinking I'm going to need more.

I had my cushions re-done last spring and used approximately 12 meters of fabric for my 13 ft boler. I can't find the receipt to double check the total amount of fabric bought. Hope this helps.

The fabric supplier for Bigfoot is in Lethbridge, AB. Sorry I don't remember the name and no longer have access to the Bigfoot members forum. If someone has access they could do a search and find the name of the company.

use any GOOD upholstery fabric and use a vinyl for the under side. that will take care of mildew. I use that rubber drawer liner underneath when I spread the cushions out to sleep on... that way they stay put.

one thing to look for in the fabric is a bonded back. looks like theres a thin layer of adhesive on the back so it doesn'r fray when it's cut. my TM-14 took about 10 yards but the front galley takes the place the place of the bunks on most models. the amount also varies with the fabric pattern. if it has to match up like wall paper... that causes some waste.
