Faucet spits no more!

I've cleaned my glasses for the last time from a spitting faucet after I hook up to water. Now I fill the hose with water to push out air before I attach it to the trailer. There are still a few gurgles, and I still stand a few feet away, but for three hookups now, there has been NO spitting.

I thought I'd share in case someone is as H2O challenged as I am!

Great tip Ruth Now that I think of it, it's an "of Course" moment, no longer pushing air through the sytem first

I've always just held a wash cloth up around the spigot in the sink to keep the water from spitting everywhere...gonna try your method the next time too

For some reason, that has only happened once to us. It kept spitting every time we turned on the kitchen faucet for nearly an entire day. The supply hose bibb was so far away that we had to use 2 hoses. Lots of air to make the faucet burp!

This is a good opportunity to remind folks that exactly the same thing happens with your propane line, when it's been disconnected. The big difference is the tiny orifice through which the air must be bled. No burner function until the air has been purged.

Thanks for the heads-up so we can avoid the rude awakening of a face full of water

Thank you! Now, if someone can tell me how to stay dry when I disconnect the white hose from the trailer...

Frederick, I use one of the Y adapters at the faucet with my pressure regulator and when it is time to disconnect I turn the faucet off than open the extra side of the Y adapter to bleed off the water pressure. Than take off the hose from the trailer and drain it and roll it up and don;t forget your Y and pressure regular that is on the faucet. Jay

If you don't have a Y adapter, then you can do this: Turn the outside faucet off. Turn on the interior water faucet until it doesn't run any more. That should do it.
