Not seeing the problem can really make diagnostics difficult, so here are some general ideas.
I would start by making sure that the elbow pins are seated and not sticking out and that the mechanism is centered in the case. also check that the legs are completely and properly seated.
Open the
awning about 18-24" and carefully inspect all components for bends, cracks, or alignment.
Look at your
awning fabric to be sure that it has no spiral wrinkles which might indicate uneven or mistracking.
If everything appears normal, then deploy your awning all the way and then retract it being sure the the ends are parallel to the case all the way in.
You can keep the legs deployed evenly until the awning is retracted to about 2-3 feet where it can support itself.
