Question Fiberglass repair/replace

We acquired a little Hunter Compact Junior last year (I think it's probably a '72, based on pictures I've seen to compare) and the fiberglass pop up top is sagging and leaky. When it rains, the water just sits on the top in a giant pool if we don't have it covered. Does anyone have any DIY recommmendations or ideas for how to repair or replace a portion of the top?

Thanks,
Mrs Barr

You might consider using oak or square tubing crossbraces Attached inside the pop-up roof by fasteners with snap caps like on a Scamp. Or you could use aluminum channel braces on the outside.

Where is it leaking at? Through the pop-up section

Yes, we're fairly certain there are crack in the fiberglass.

One easy way to repair both the leaks and the sag is to remove the top and take the shell to a fiberglass shop that has a "Chopper Gun". They can shoot a whole new inside liner, up to about 1/2" thick, and also put some bow back into the roof. I have had cracked holding tanks encased in this manner. You might start with a local boat repair shop.
Short of that, you can remove the top and recoat the entire inside with resin, that will at least stop the leaks. You can buy Bondo brand resin at most auto supply stores.
