Finding the VIN number on a 1982 Scamp

Hi.

I was wondering if anyone can tell me where the VIN number is supposed to be located on a 1982 Scamp 13' travel trailer? I'm trying to get mine re-titled and the inspector couldn't find it and now I'm stuck until I can resolve the problem.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

In the event that the VIN number is missing or worn off, something like this, what is the standard procedure for recovering it, or getting a new one ?

Hi Ben,
We had the same problem with out '88 Scamp. Someone had painted over the number in our case. It was supposed to be on the hitch part. Anyway, we took it to the State Patrol with out ownership deed thingy and had it certified (or whatever it's called) No problem.

On our 92S13 the vin # was on the left (door side) tongue rail top toward the hitch. As mentioned above it had been painted over several times. We had to scrape the paint off to find it. In addition, the individual characters were hammer punched separately, some more deeply struck than others. For us there was some interpretation as to what some of the letters and numbers were. But then we did have the title to help us.
