Question "Fitted" Scamp Sheets

HI I have a Scamp 12' with the typical "rounded" cushions which convert into the bed. I am curious what people to for sheets/bedding in their units with the rounded bed shape.

Any tips or solutins or custom ideas, to really make it look and function nicely.

Pictures, drawings, stories are all welcome. Please share.

Thanks. . jimbo!!!

We use sleeping bags. Makes making the bed and turning it back into a dinette very easy. The sleeping bags are nice and warm and cozy. We just stuff them into stuff bags and stow them below the street side dinette cushion. Simple and easy.
I did put a short partition inside that locker to keep the sleeping bags and power cords separate.

Works like a champ, we've done this now 8 years and close to a 1000 nights or more.

I like Byron have used sleeping bags. Switch a few years ago to just leaving the bed down all the time. I use a couple of inches of memory foam - with a mattress protector over that - both cut to the size of the bed and elastic attached to the mattress protector to keep in from shifting.

I use flat sheets for bottom and top. Fitted sheets do not work well. A duvet on top. Duvet was also cut down in size to work better with the bed side - just large enough to be able to fold it slightly under on the sides and foot of the bed. The cover was custom made to fit the duvet. Have two different duvet's - one light one for warm weather and a much heavier one for cool weather.

That's great thanks for the tips. We use sleeping bags too but like the feel of the sheets. Especially when it's hot. I definitely like "layers"

I line the idea of using two flat sheets instead of a fitted

With the custom duvets how are they "customized"? Cut n sewn to match the shape of the bed?

Pretty well, I cut down the duvets themselves from a double sized one - so there wasnt to much bulk to have to try and tuck down between the back wall, foot area and just enough to tuck under the mattress on trailer kitchen side. I just sewed the side of the duvet I cut back up. The duvet cover were made to match the size of the duvet - used a flat sheet for the underside and material I had used for pillows for the front bunks for the top. I didnt make the one corner of the duvets rounded to match the end corner but I suppose you could. Used snaps on the duvet so I can remove the duvet easily for washing and to remove the duvet completely from the cover when camping in really warm weather if I need to.

I was using a twin fitted and twin flat, twin blanket and custom made quilt, also use a twin mattress pad, all worked good but kept blaming husband for pulling the fitted sheet over, so I tried a double fitted and seems to fit much better, goes right under the mattress all the way around, and not bulky.

You'll find some great resources by reading previous postings. You can look under the "search" button (best is to use the Google search). I suggest you look up "bedding" and/or "mattress topper". My previous posting is at http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f...per-54811.html. Look at posting #11.

I use a twin fitted Jersey stretch sheet on bottom, it stays tucked in all around and is easyier to put on. Twin flat top sheet and twin blanket. Bed down in permanent position all the time. Works better than anything I have tried so far.

I'm kinda a sheet kinda gal too. Gave up sleeping bags at the same time I went from a tent to a trailer. I also remember Waterbed Sheets. Where the top sheet was sewn to the bottom fitted sheet. Less to stuff in. You may want to consider making your own. Lay the cushions out on the living room floor (tightly) make a tracing and creating your own. I let all the blankets drift up the wall. Electric blankets shouldn't be tucked in

We leave the bed down most of the time. The cushions were a bit hard for our aging bones so we got a memory foam 'topper'. Keeping the bottom sheet in place was a chore - hard to tuck around the foam, and it had a tendency to come loose and strangle someone's arm or feet!

My solution was to get a set of queen size flannel sheets. Flannel ones are just so cosy! The flat sheet, folded in half lengthwise and sewn fitted the memory foam rather like an oversized pillow case. No more loose edges! On longer trips I turn the whole thing over if it starts looking grubby.

The fitted sheet I cut open at the corners, cut more or less to size and sewed together for the front bunk cushion. Helps keep the 'real' cushion clean. The pillow cases went on pillows (kind of a no-brainer, eh).

As teens (you know how they hate making beds) - I made the same sort of holders for their aging sleeping bags. Saved me money and pleased the kids. One could do this for the camper too if you prefer the feel of sheets over a sleeping bag!

We leave the bed down all the time and use a 3" memory foam pad cut to fit over the regular seat cushions. ( the solid blue pad from Cosco is really nice) We use a fabric waterproof matress liner to keep things clean and dry below the sheet. I uses cotton knitted twin blankets for that hug you feel. One important thing is your head is close to cold windows all the time, so leave a knitted beanie by your pillow. Its easier to keep yourself warm if you keep your head warm.

Regarding a cold head from the cold air leakage from the window... We simply roll down our custom-made black out shade made of Ron-Loc (black out fabric) and attach the bottom to the rat fur with the sewn on hook and loop edging (Velcro).

Between my hooded sleeping bag and the furnace I don't have a problem with being cold. And the window above my head is almost always open the colder it is the less open, but still open a bit. Love the fresh air.

I have been pondering all these issues. Was thinking of making fitted sheets to fit the curved
side and then stitching the top sheet to part of the bottom (with enough room to still get a foot out of the covers!). Just need to get going on it!
Thanks for the inspiration.
