Fixing sticking windows

I managed way back when I got the trailer to get them unstuck and working, and now they are stuck again. So three questions:

1) How do I get them to slide easily (I don't remember what all I did, though I think washing was part of it)

2) Once they are sliding, how do I maintain them so they don't get restuck as they are now?

3) What do I do to fix the problem permanently (or at least long-term?)

I use a piece of a candle on the rails on my patio door at home. Takes care of squeaking noise and they run smooth for months after. Some use soap, but that would get washed away in the rain.

I don't know if that would work on the furry stuff on an automotive window, which seems to be what causes the sticking. Maybe silicone oil?

As an aside, I have to laugh. I went to google unsticking RV windows and found the same question on another forum, where it deteriorated immediately into an argument about whether or not WD40 is a lubricant.

sliding things (like windows) need their support frame and hardware to be square and plumb etc.
over time things will get out of whack.

you have a whack job in your future to un-whack those windows.
when was the last time you opened up all the pinch screws for the frame?
hopefully the windows could use some of that gasket caulk stuff while you have them open to investigate what went out of whack.

Problem is, when the OP asked him to explain, he never did, the WD40 argument just went on for another page. Anyone?

WD 40 is a Water Displacement agent and it was their 40th mixture that worked. Lubrication from it was not a factor as it dissipates fairly quickly.

That it stinks is just another reason not to use it.
I use Jigaloo. Smells like a bouquet of flowers.

WD40 is not a lube, contrary to popular opinion. It's also a poor substitute for penetrant. It's great if you get your distributor wet, other than that, I haven't found much use for it.

That being said, I would use silicone spray.

Water displacement would suggest it might be good to use after washing the window fur. (I saw its name somewhere but have forgotten it.) Then use a lubricant.
