I'll just keep this thread concise so I don't spread newbie questions about my '75 Oldy Moldy Boler all around...(I've owned it for 37 hours)

The first is about this door hinge...the door seems cracked but not feeling weak at this point. Should I be doing anything preemptive about this?

Change out rusting bolts?

There's a crack around the door where water had been getting in (see the patch the former owner did). What's the "stuff" that you use to fill in that hole?

Would that suggestion about the foam (with peel off tape slit down sides) water pipe insulation work well to replace the door seal?

THANKS!!

Next ? Re: Seam Tape, Caulking, Painting Interior

Plan is to just tear out this sticky seam tape, caulk it using the masking tape technique (on either side), and paint it with KILZ and stencil.
I've seen some of those $7900 Bolers on Vancouver Island that don't have any more insulation, they've been painted on the inside...
I take it it's preferable to save the insulation and make it look good. Whatever they did to adhere the seam tape is gooey.
Any advice is appreciated!

Can you tell me the best way to add storage above the table?
What is the best way to replace the bent table top, or fix it?
Thank-you!

Next ? Re: Battery Recharging, Propane Tank Covers, Automatic Switchover Device?

Is there a way to keep the battery charged? Can it be hooked into the electrical somehow from the car?
Can you buy those Casita propane tank covers anywhere?
Can you install switchover, tank guage devices? Where do you find them online?
Thanks!

Next ? Re: New Tires, Flanges, Exterior Paint?

What's the largest size tires can this 13' Boler take? Would Les Schwab or Sears have these?
Can you put a flange (don't know if that's the right word) i.e. a plastic decorative trim around the wheel area (on the trailer) as seen on my Expeidtion---do they sell this anywhere?

The exterior paint is gritty and tired, should I just polish it with a polishing cream (no wax, someone said once you start waxing you must continue forever), or just have it repainted...and if so, with what, or where do you take it?

Thank-you!!

Suzanne,

Everything you asked there are exhaustive threads here, just have to hit the search. I'll try and hit a few for you:

Post 1 Door: This btw can turn into a pretty complex one. I replaced my hinges and am still working on alignment and sealing 30 days later. I didn't have any door damage so it could be more involved as the these posts will get into.

Door cracks

Door hinges

This will get you started on the door. Lots more if you search the forumn.

Post 2 Paint Ensolite:
Interior Paint

Paint Ensolite

Post 3: Replace Table

Replace Table

Post 4: Battery and charging line, etc.--

Battery

Tow-Charging-connector

Tank switching

Propane switching

Post 5:

Exterior Paint

Tires

Tons more where these came from. Search on combinations of the terms and you'll come up with an endless supply.

I spoke with Casita's sales department. They take the standard 30 pound double tank cover available anywhere, and cut it down to fit the 20 pound bottles more closely. I bought mine at Camping World and cut it down myself, and added stripe tape to match the stripes on the trailer.

Suzanne- - - you were asking how to add storage above the table-- this is what I did last summer. Used the existing holes from the curtain rods on the bottom (from the leaky rivets) to hold the "L" shaped brackets, put in SS machine screws (with an SS washer and a dab of butyl tape) Did have to add a couple holes in the roof, tho, but with SS and butyl, don't anticipate those leaking either. Then hung the curtains from the bottom of the new cupboard and shelf. Hope this gives you some ideas. Just went out to snap pictures for you and look what I found!!!!!!

My advise would be goof off - I originally purchased it at the paint store but also found it at home depot. It removed white gooey stuff, blk tar and duct tape from the walls of my trailer. Don't mistake it for goo gone though. Goof off is far more powerful and quite different.
