Fridge Hinge Repair

I have a Dometic Fridge model RM2453, through my reading on a few sites, people have said the hinge could break.They sell hinge repair kits but I made my own out of 1/16 aluminum.

For those a little less inclined to wanting to fabricate one themselves, there is another way to get a fridge door hinge reinforcement plate.

Larry & Debbie Gamble, owners of Little House Customs, sells a pre-made reinforcing bracket for these fridge doors. FWIW, buy one and install it BEFORE your hinge breaks, rather than after, but it will mend broken door hinges as well. Scroll down about halfway until you see the FRIDGE HINGE REPAIR/DAMAGE PREVENTION KIT. They also have a lot of other neat stuff too. Excellent folks to deal with and I have purchased many items from them before, including this item.

Not sure what specific model you have, but this place has just about everything for these little fridges.

I am wondering if anyone has info on the pins in their Dometic fridges - it would be helpful to know the length of them above and below the little 'skirt' on it that it rests on. Does that make sense? I need to shop around and find some sort of generic pin I guess.
