fridge problem

I just took my first short outing with are new to us 1976 4500 trillium. I started the fridge on propane and it started on the first try. It did start to get cold but I could smell amonia. Can some one help me? Thanks Gene

Ammonia is the coolant used in your unit. I've had units like that B 4 and smelled the ammonia also. The unit worked and I never found a leak. Hopefully someone else can shed more light on the situation.
