furnace trouble

Hi I have a suburban furnace in my 99 trailer. It will start and burn for a few seconds then quit and start again. I removed the unit cleaned it replaced the burner door gasket. Vents are clear. What do I check next? Thank You for any input. Pat

Hi Pat , It sounds like you have a D.S.I. furnace which lights itself when you turn on the T stat. If that is the case have you cleaned the contacts on the D.S.I. board ,just pull the 4 or 5 wire plug off and and put it back on that will clean the contacts do the same with the igniter wire at the board and on the igniter end near the burner . If that does not work sounds like the board is not sensing the flame and shutting down.

Hope this helps

You might have air in the gas line to the burner. How long have you run the furnace? Does the stove and/or water heater work OK?

took the unit out of the case checked the fan blades and burner tube installed a new gasket on the burner door. hooked it all up on my workbench and it worked fine. had the themostat wires hooked together, seperated them the fan ran for a minute then shut down. rehooked the wires, fired up, let it burn for 5 min. I don't know what caused the problem but it seems to work ok now. The stove and fridge worked ok when the furnace acted up.Only use the furnace 3 or 4 times a year on opening week end of pheasant season. thank you for your post

When I set up camp I usually have to light the stove burners, then the furnace to purge the gas line so the fridge lights easily. Once the furnace lights and stay lit for a few seconds I turn it off. You might consider doing something like this. It helps keep the lines full of propane and lets me know the furnace is working, even if I don't need it at the time.
