I was giving the scamp a thorough cleaning yesterday when I found a lot of fuzzy mold growing on the underside of the wood access piece that sits over the fresh water tank. I’ve had the trailer about three weeks and haven’t used it yet. The previous owners said it had never been used. I didn’t see any signs of water or mold anywhere else inside of the area. I’m curious if any of you have an idea what may have caused this or where the moisture may have come from. I washed the piece with a bleach solution and left it in the sun all day to dry. I’m hoping this will be the end of it, but not knowing what caused it I fear there may be a problem.

ANY mold is NOT a good sign. Hope your bleach solution got rid of the problem, it might be a good idea to keep an eye on that area and keep on top of the mold if it comes back. IMHO, the mold could have been caused by condensation in the air in that area. That tank might also be a good target for a good cleaning inside n out especially IF it hasn't been used very much.

I agree that any mold is not good. I was upset to say the least when I found it. It just doesn't make sense to me how moisture or condensation got in there when it's never been used, but then I don't know too much about this.

Is a bleach solution recommended for cleaning the tank also and can or would the tank need to be removed to really clean it well?
