gas heater troubleshooting

My older gas heater in my 97 Casita is not working properly.
The battery is good, gas is going to stove, and fan comes on but the gas does not come on unless I flick the sail switch.
Two questions... is the unit easy to get out to clean the sail switch because I am guessing that is the issue? I can't seem to locate any videos on how to remove the unit and am a bit nervous about it
and two.. could it be something else and if so what?
thank you for your help
Miss E

Replace the sail switch. It's cheap. If you aren't comfortable dealing with gas and electric, bring it to a technician. Not quite so cheap...but better than dying.

No reason to clean it; just replace it. Removal depends on the unit. My furnace involved screws in the front, going into the cabinets, the propane connection coming into the side, wires coming into the other side, then just pull straight out to separate from the exhaust tube.
