Danny,
There are heavier duty mantles which handle traveling. We had a
propane gas
light in an 8' cab-over camper which we used for many years. The mantles got broken mostly from being careless during
lighting.
On a cold morning the heat output was enough to take the chill off. It saved fussing with the Zebco catalytic heater when we weren't going to be inside much.
My recollection was the
light amount produced was similar to that of a 60 watt light bulb at home.
Oxygen consumption was sufficient that a window should be opened slightly.
We rather enjoyed using the light as an alternative energy source. It seemed kind of quaint, reminding us of stories about the "gas-light" era in our country's history.
