Gas Regulators on 1973 Boler

When I first acquired our 1973 Boler,the furnace was shot(disposed of)the Coleman stove was held together by rust(likewise,turfed out!).But,I did do a quick check with the stove(previuos owner had used it for heating!)and gas still floewd OK.
So,while I'm rehabing the Boler,do or,rahter,should I replace the regulator?I'll have a techie help me rip out excess gas lines,just need gas to stove.
Anyone?

I'm not an expert on this, but as I understand it, the older regulators are "single" regulators, while the modern ones are "doubles," so that if one fails the other is there to back it up. They are still small and inexpensive - you can see them on the Scamp parts web page or on vintagetrailersupply.com (and/or many other suppliers - I just happen to have looked at those two recently).

The diaphragm ages at a set rate regardless of use, they die of age...if older than 10 years replace it...older than 20 it may be dangerous.

You can replace your gas regulator with a regulator from a gas grill and you don't have to rebolt it on the fiberglass ,just leave the regualtor on the propane tank just like the gas grill, less holes, less leaks
