Gas water heater question

I'm out boon docking right now and am wondering, is it better to turn water heater on before each use, (breakfast/ dinner dishes and shower) or just leave the unit on?

The unit is only a gas water heater, not an electric/gas system.

Thanks for your help FGRV

Most of my camping is in the boondocks.
I allways leave it on.
It might cost more propane to keep heating the water over and over again than just maintaining the temp.

Hi Roger, welcome to FiberglassRV. To answer your question, it may have more to do with the time lag between doing dishes and taking a shower. Some folks do it within a couple of hours and some wait 12-18 hours. AND what water temp you want...

When I light mine I tend to leave it on - to much bother to keep lighting and I dont think it takes much propane to keep it warm.
