My new Fiamma
awning didn't last 2 days. Had it installed on my new
Casita 17ft . With the very first use , the left
awning pole separated from the
awning at the top where the weak plastic swivel sleeve failed. The pole came completely separated, standing alone, and tore the awning fabric as it fell to the ground. Now, having no left support, the whole left side fell freely, twisting the rafter, bending the case front, and worst of all, bending the back case channel so that the arms are no longer parallel and cannot be opened or closed without manual intervention.
The poles were designed to never separate from the front of the awning frame. In fact, one would have to disassemble the end of the awning to remove the pole swivel connector from the back. Except that the swivel connector on the pole is made of metal, as it should be, while the sleeve that is supposed to retain the swivel connector is made of weak slotted plastic, allowing that connection to fail with little effort.
So what does Fiamma say? They say from a thousand miles away that it is consistent with wind damage, not covered by warranty. I say, with the broken parts in had, that it is consistent with a design flaw, using plastic where metal is needed. They just wash there hands of any responsibility and I'm stuck with a very expensive two day old piece of junk. Great customer DISservice.
