Question Height of Casita Spirit Deluxe?

Hello out there,

We are currently drawing up plans for a garage addition to our home. We plan to include a 9' garage door because we have heard that a Casita Spirit Deluxe has a clearance height of 8' 11" and can fit inside a 9' garage door.

We have not yet got our trailer. This is sort of long term planning. We hope to purchase one in the next year and want to include a covered place to park it when we do get it.

I have seen photos of Casitas with air conditioning units on top of the trailer. Does this mean that the height 8' 11" includes the air conditioning unit?

Or... does that mean we must get a trailer without the a/c on top?

Is there anyone out there who has a Casita and a 9' garage door who can advise us?

thanks... Ray and Cheryl

Hi Ray and Cheryl, to FiberglassRV, we're glad you're here.

I can't advise you, I don't own a Casita. Hopefully someone will pop in soon with the answer you seek

Hello Ray and Cheryl,

Last Spring we raised our carport 15 inches to accommodate a 2002 Scamp and subsequently purchased a 2007 Casita with an AC on top. Our "new" height is 9' 2" and the Casita fits nicely. 9 feet will be close but should work.

For a number like that, I would call Casita. Any number you get here will be dated. They could have changed what they put on the roof. Also the tire size will come into it as well. That said, there are folks here that switch to smaller wheels/tires at the end of the season to get their trailer into the garage. Good luck, Raz

According to the Casita website, the Roof mounted Air Conditioner is "a base model feature" on the 17' Spirit Deluxe and the overall height is 8' 11". I interpret that to mean that the Air Conditioner comes standard (not as an optional extra) so it is included in the overall height measurement. It also comes with 15" load range C tires. The option that will effect the height further would be the "High-Lift" axle, so if you want that I'd plan for a 10' door on your building.

Newer trailer axle less sag. (Might sit higher)
Some trailers have 15" tires (Sit higher)

Recent call to Casita on our new Spirit 2013 DLX with Airconditioning & High axle .... 8-11" .... We went with 10' to be safe but could have gone with 9-2" with a few inches to spare.. Roof to be added in the spring ..... John & gwen

Ray & Cheryl,
Are you in Eastern WA? If so, PM me. I built my garage with 9' doors. I recently added 15" tires, and it still fits in the garage. You're welcome to stop by and have a look.

Height of Casita Spirit Deluxe

Thank you everyone. This information is most helpful. We'll ruminate on this so far. LK Gray... we are near Bellingham, western WA... but... occasionally find ourselves in eastern parts of WA. Which town are you near? North or South? We might deke that way one day.

Since you are still in the garage design phase, I would check with your door mfg. to see what the standard panel sizes are, that's if you are doing a metal roll up sectional. Avoid paying for a custom. Give yourself some extra clearance, too short & your up the creek.
