Help! Cant find flint lighter knob need to start my fridge now!

I've never used the fridge in my trailer. It's a dometic three way in my 72 trillium. I've got it all down fine but I don't see this flint lighter knob I'm supposed to turn. Everything else is clear in the diagram. Can anyone tell me what I'm looking for? I've got the gas turned back off while I look but here's a pic

Thanks you!!

Is that an RM211? The fire is on the side of the fridge that is cut off in your picture. You could just use a lighter at the inspection port.

In a pinch I've used an Aim-N-Flame type grill lighter through the inspection port. But, please make sure that there are no gas leaks on such an old fridge before you try it. We'd like you to be with us to post your success . Raz

I feel so stupid. Can you please point out the inspection port?

Don't feel bad, I have the same fridg and had problemd too. I found the flint starter knob, but couldn't get it to light. I think it was just not working any longer. So lighting it without use of the piezo igniter is what I'm going to have to do too. I didn't have the operators manual with me so I just gave up. I didn't want it blowing up in my face. Do you have the manual for the 211? Is that the diagram you're referring to? If not, look it up in the document center on the forum. On Pg 3 there's a little opening marked J that you will see on your fridge. I believe that is what was referred to as the inspection port. That diagram doesn't quite match up with your picture. I think the diagram's part E which is the igniter is the part that has the wire coming out of it and up and over to the burer opening. Its in the middle upper part of your picture. Good luck.

The inspection port is the larger rusty, (due to heat) hole beside the knob, (which I can only guess is for the flint). get a grill type lighter, the ones that have a long tip. Put it in that hole, light it, turn on the gas. I suspect that the blue button will have to be held down till it stays lit.

You might have the RM24A, if so, manual is in document center.
Fiberglass RV - Document Center - Dometic RM24a Manual
See pages 41 -45 for flint. If I'm reading it right you turn the knob shown in # 7 above clockwise.

That spark lighter sounds somewhat like the RM-23 I have in my 1973 Hunter.

In that case the lighter knob is in the lower left corner of the inside of the refrigerator. If there is a 1/4" hole in the back corner it means that the spark lighter iis missing.

However, that cover over the lighting port looks home made and I suspect that the flint lighter broke or otherwise stopped working and a P.O. added the lighting hole as a result. (As have I)

You wil also have to learn how to hold the pilot safety device ON while lighting. It's the blue looking button to the right of the gas valve temp knob.

Bigger question... does it work on electric? If you try running it on 120VAC and the boiler gets warm, but the box doesn't start getting cold after a few hours, there's little sense in worring about the gas function. At that age many, if not most, have gone to the great freezer box in the sky.
