Help, can't remove rock guard!

On my Trillium 4500 is a rock guard covering the front window. Some PO restored (?) the rock guard using lots of adhesive and creative painting. I can't remove the plastic/fiberglass panels. They are seemingly permanently glued to the aluminum frame! So now I want to remove the entire assembly and re-restore it.

I removed the screws, one at each end of the top of the rock guard, but the rock guard just won't budge. What is holding it in? I don't want to break anything.

I removed the whole frame that the rock guard connects to. It is separate from the window, though it surrounds it. There is a row of screws on the top and both sides.

Hello Dave, thanks for the reply.
I'm hoping to just remove the hinged panel right now, as we will soon be travelling with the egg. (Don't want to introduce any more problems right now.) At some point I will remove the rock guard frame when I remove the window to re-seal.

Hi John, I am assuming you have undone the support hinges as well. Ours slid sideways somehow once I removed the two top screws in the ends. It seems to me that it was to do with the door side of rockguard. Sorry I cannot remember better. To put it back on I did undo the whole frame from the trailer, re-butyl and re-screw and it did not take long.

Island Claire, thanks for responding! When I tried to remove the rockguard by removing the screw at each end of the hinge, the rockguard refused to move. I will wait and remove the rockguard and frame from the trailer when I remove the window for re-sealing.

Island Claire, I looked at your photo and I'm very impressed with your improved rockguard. Some PO of my Trillium 4500 renovated the rockguard. They replaced the left and right panels with plain, flat plastic and kept the original FG panel in the center.

I am looking for corrugated plastic panel material to replace the left and right panels.

Other then off an old trailer, I have not been able to find the correct corrugated filon anywhere. You can get the wavy stuff, but not the clapboard type.

An RV recycler / scrap yard. Sadly, the rock guard, on a Trillium, is quite tall. So rock guards from many large trailer are too short, but plenty wide.

Solution to that problem might be to use two pieces of the old style filon. The two pieces could possibly be glued together and/or overlapped.
