Help find a 30 amp (Hubbell twist lock) to 15 amp adapter

Hi friends,

I've got a Marinco style 30-amp socket that uses the twist lock plug. I'd like to find an adapter to a standard 15 amp for quick hookups without dragging out the 30-amp cord set. I found one here for $75: http://www.marinco.com/product/15a-30a-rv-adapter

man is that expensive! Does anybody have a second source?

Is this what you are looking for? I would replace the end with the 115v connector from a store myself and build one. Its on sale 29.00.

Here is where I finally found the picture, but I found mine in a local RV store: 30A twist lock to 30A RV. $14.99

Here it is at Mayberry's 30A twist lock to 30A rv adapter $18.00

Now you can do like I have done and plug an adapter to go from rv 3 blade to the 15A 2 blade with ground.

That is the cheapest I found. I did buy a rv pigtail and went to Lowes (or Home depot) and bought a twist lock plug and installed it on the end of the pigtail.

That's the female end of a marine type locking 30 amp connector. I think that's the sort of fitting he's looking for.

FWIW, I've found that often it's cheaper to buy a short heavy gauge exterior extension cord and cut off the end with the wrong connector and splice in the one you need rather than buy a male and female plug and some plain wire.

I think the salavage yard wants $2 for the item and it is new and has the round 30 amp on one end and the regular 15A on the other. 2 gallons of gas to get there and back plus US Mail. You may want an extra one for an additional $2. There is no labor involved just what it cost me to go get it and ship it.

Personally, I would cut off the Marinco plug and install a standard 30A[at]120VAC plug. The RV world generally uses the standard straight plugs and sockets, plus the Marino stuf is expensive because it is marketed to the commercial and marine areas.

Be SURE that all your stuf is for 120VAC, NOT 240VAC, because if you did wind up making a 240VAC connection, you will let the smoke out of your converter, fridge control board, lights, etc.

In the RV world, the ONLY 240VAC connection is the 50Amp at park pedestal, which is changed to two 50A[at]120VAC circuits in BulgeMobile wiring (So they can run both a/c at the same time).
