so i pulled out the bulbs in the trailer and they all read 1141. is this the same as 1156 or is the same as 1142? thanks for the help and also recommendations on led you have used is also nice. i like the soft white or warm white color not to big a fan of the cool white it reminds me to much of fluorescents.

1141 bulbs are dual contact, single intensity available in 12 and 24 volt; 1156 bulbs are single contact, single intensity available in 6 and 12 volt.

Before you think I'm smart, I read that about 1/5 the way down this page:

the 1141 bulb in question is a single contact. it only has the one bump on the bottom.

If you're talking about the interior lamps, the 1141 would be similar to the 1156. Single "bump" on the bottom, and the side tabs align directly opposite each other. Just an [b]on/off type bulb.

1142 would be similar to 1157. Two "bumps" on the bottom, and the side tabs are offset [b]so it will not fit into an 1141/1156 socket. This is a [b]High/Low/Off type bulb.

thank you so i would get an 1156 12w single contact, and that will fit into the base that the 1141 came out of.
