HELP Silly question from newby

(scamp 16' owner) Getting ready to head out for six weeks west, I have yet to practice with my sewage system. Watched all videos but still confused. Can someone tell me if putting water filling access is simply o e fresh water holding tank which then is used for sink, shower and toilet? And second, does one put water into the toilet (using fill press with marine toilet) before or after using toilet? Sounds obvious maybe but not to me. Thanks. Judi from Indiana getting ready for the big adventure

If city water is connected and is on that provides your pressure water. If city water is not connected the on board water and pump (once on) provides your pressure water. Once the commode has pressure and it is flushed it will provide water for the flush and leave a little water in the bowl after the ball closes the opening.
Before moving from the campsite with all water pressure off, flush the toilet so no water is in the bowl prior to moving the trailer. This is where an inline valve (sharkbite) by the toilet helps out.

Welcome Judi!

The fresh water access at the rear corner of the trailer is indeed for filling the fresh water holding tank only. If you are going to camp at a place with no water hook up then you will need to use water from the tank - once you fill it you will need to turn on the water pump to get the water running through the trailer to the sinks, toilet, shower & hot water tank. If you are going to camp without water hook ups just make sure that when you are filling the water tank that once you have it half full you go into the trailer and turn on the water pump so that the hot water tank also gets filled up. If you don't do that the hot water tank will use up about half the water in the fresh water to fill its self. If your hot water tank has a by-pass valve on it you will need to open it to get it to fill while running water from the fresh water tank or the city water connection.

If you will be camping at a place that was water connections you connect the hose to the City water connection on the side of the trailer & the water pump is not used in that case as the pressure from the water is all that is needed to get the water through the trailers pipes to the sinks, shower and toilet. Just make sure you have a water pressure regulator on your hose! When you use the City Water connection no water goes into the large fresh water tank but you can also fill your hot water tank.

Your best to put a little bit of water into the black water/toilet tank prior to use - along with a bit of chemicals or what ever you are using for odour control. After that once you have water in your fresh water tank or are hooked to city water the bowl of the toilet will always have a little bit of water in it for use and flushing after you use it, just like home ;-)

Its also a good practise that helps in cleaning out the black tank if you fill the tank up with water by holding down the flush pedal prior to dumping out the tank. Dump out the black water tank before you dump out the larger grey water tank - it helps to clean out your slinky hose.

Once you have used the trailer once or twice you will find its all pretty easy.

Have fun with your trailer!!!

Before. Most toilets have a hand-held sprayer (just like a cheap kitchen sink sprayer) to help waste wash down when flushing, rather than adding a bunch more precious water.

Really? I leave some water in the bowl - it helps the seal, and there little enough that it isn't a problem splashing around.

Information is good. Lack of information is not so good, but misinformation is much worse. Check facts, and apply common sense liberally.

Thanks - great ideas on this and I am getting the picture for this. I know once I get out there and do it a few times it will be a snap. J
