Help with Boler hinges and door

I am trying to reinstall my 1980 13ft boler door with the original hinges and scamp replacement ball and bolts. I am using the original hinge location on the door but filled in the holes on the body. Upon lining up the door and hinges, I drilled new holes in the body but the door will now only open about halfway at which point there is a lot of resistance on the hinges of the body. I dont want to push it and crack the fiberglass. I tried moving the hinges on the body (new holes) and it seemed to make it worse and the brass balls are not staying in their track. Is there a trick to this?? The door itself fits pretty well to the body when closed with not much gap. Any help would be much appreciated!!

Do you have the spring positioned below the hinge body away from the ball? The spring is meant to keep the balls in place.

I'm wondering if you got the hinge parts mixed up or the hinges mixed up.

Original hinges were different top and bottom they have either a 1 or 2 stamped on them. If memory serves me correctly, the hinge with the 2 goes on the top. Anybody out there that can look at their trailer and verify?

I do have the springs below the ball and then the lock nut below that.... looked at pics
Hmmm.... I assumed the 2s would go on the bottom so I could try that. I did put 1 with 1 and 2 with 2.

I think you've reversed the hinges.

Good for you Colleen! Someone must have been standing on their head when they stamped the hinges with numbers
