Help with cabinet height and depth above dinette area

I've been struggling with trying to guesstimate some height and depth to cabinets for additional storage above the dinette of my Surfside 14'

I will be building some cabinets above both sides and end of the dinette area - and, the front ceiling area above the bench seat near the door.

After a lot of online research I have been considering making -

side cabinets that would hang 12" down from the ceiling with a 10" depth
(gives me 4" clearance when seated at the dinette - I'm 5'10")

rear cabinets 12" height with 18" to 21" depth.

Are these numbers realistic?

Would they be too claustrophobic?

or, could I consider making them a little deeper or taller?

I'm really struggling with this --

Thank you for your thoughts.

Bill,

I'm not familiar with a Surfside but have added a lot of storage to our trailer.

I have added a lot of cabinets to our Scamp 16, cabinets over the dinette, over the couch, over the door, over the rear windows, on the bathroom wall.... As well I have added 5 drawers where there were none to make available space more useable. We have added 6 outside storage spaces as well.

If you go to the Modifications section, Preparing a 1991 Scamp 16 you may get some storage ideas.

Bill, Fred just recently finished exactly what you're talking about. He has a Boler, but this should give you an idea on measuring, etc. This link starts at post #84: Overhead Storage - There's a hole in my Boler

Thank you for the suggestions and resources!!

Wonderful!

Great ideas (hints) which I've been looking for.

I've been stuck for awhile on the dimensional aspects of some cabinets.
(height and depth)

I feel much more confident about moving forward now.

Thank you again for responding to my questions with some great
ideas!
