Hi all- Raising front bunk for Porta potty

hi all.. just bought our 69 Boler... just starting to work on it.... have question, hope I can explain clearly enough...

one requirement my wife had for me to get the Boler... It HAS to have a potty! The only place I can think of is is under the front bunk..(preferable)..Or a pull out drawer perhaps? But?

Note: I recently bought a taller a Sanipotty for our Mac 26S sailboat head...

The Sanipotty (nice!) replaced flushable portapotty That is new but to short for the sailboat head...
hard for bigger folk with bad knees to get off of... (with the raised floor under the front bunk of the camper .. it would raise the little portapotty high enough to use. (fulfilling wife’s requirement)

The area under the front bunk Has a raised floor... making the area under the bunk about 4 inches to short at present to fit the smaller portapotty under.

I need to raise that bunk about 4 inches... still want couch/bed use ( No upper bunk bed... (will put in shelf like in back with small microwave).

Do I

1. Is there a way to raise the fiberglass bunk? Preferable!

2. Or...Do I need to tear the fiberglass bunk out and rebuild the bench a little higher with plywood... note: I have full woodshop and could do the re-build if needed. but would rather figure out a way to use the fiberglass if I could raise it somehow?

thoughts?

Hey Mike, I did a similar mod to my 74 boler.
I didn't retain the 'glass though.
Check out pages 1-2 in the link.

So you did not add a glassed in "shelf" higher up on the shell, to replace the one there to start with? If the top were thinner, such as thinner fiberglass, would that be a good idea?

Thanks Freda...

Looks about like what I had in mind but?

Just for clarification?

Could the portapotty go In the drawer with the sliders... perhaps with casters on the front to help support the weight?

That way you could pull the drawer out for use... and not be forced to disturb the cushion/bunk?

in addition I had considered making a table top the size of the front bunk... it would ride under the cushion The table would have half of a set of pined door hedges. 9the other half would be mounted on the outside of the trailer near door.... when wanted to use... just remove from under the cushion... place henges together on outside... put in pins and swing down leg at other end ?

Mike,

You may also want to consider the modification for the Porta-potti that I did.
