hinges on trillium

Hi,
1) I just bought a trillium 1976 yesterday. Their's a lot of work to do on it, but the first thing is to change the hinges on the door.
Is their a place I could buy them at a more reasonable price then the trillium parts store???
2) What is the best lubrifiant for the windows?
3) What is the best paint ? I was thinking of boat paint.
Thanks
Lou

Why do you want to change the hinges?
The trilliums parts store has about the best price going.

Because the door is crooked and it won't lock

I bought mine at McMaster Carr. The part number is 1276A52. They take a credit card and in most cases ship the next day. I believe Trillium Outback also sells them. Raz

The problem is more likely to be where and how the hinges attach than the hinges themselves.

Here is a thread that discusses the problem.

Hi Lou, welcome to FiberglassRV, we're glad you're here.

Roy is correct, check the hinge area before buying new hinges. You may need to do a repair and a replacement won't fix the problem.

Registry
This is a problem area with many fibreglass trailers. I have four Trilliums, and each of them will require major work on the hinges. The design is flawed. That is if you call something flawed, that has lasted 30 years of rough service.
There are many possible approaches to the repair. They range from gluing some wood chips into the holes, then screwing in the screws before the glue sets, to something like this:

Either way, probably not the hinges.
