i was wondering if anyone knows how i can open this front shield so i can get at the window on my 73 trillium ? i`d like to get this window off and reseal it, have tried the two wing nuts (one on iether side) but it still seems to be stuck and i don`t want to force it, afraid i might break it . can any help with this ? thanks , Garry .

loosen the two wing nuts and slowly pull out from the bottom. if it hasn't been opened in a while it might be real stiff, take your time and wiggle it a bit side to side.
Mine also had a catch that had to flip down on each side near the bottom of the cover.

On my '76 which could be different, the wing nuts just push in, they are spring loaded. If you want to pull the front window out, you might have to take the whole rock guard off the trailer, I wan't able to get at the window with the rock guard still on the trailer. It took a few days, take both off, cleaned, changed the wood inside, put the window back in on day 1, put the the rock guard back on, glued the ensolite back down inside, and reattached the bunk. Oh ya, if you have a bunk it is attached to the window frame, and if you need to replace the wood, you have to take that all down too.

Hi Garry,
I've seen two different types of latch. The first is an external hook which drops over a screw protruding from the rock guard near the bottom on each side. The other type is less obvious because they are spring loaded internal hooks, again on both sides near the bottom. If I remember correctly they have a small tab between the rock guard and the window which can be pressed to release the internal hook. You may also have to push lightly in on the rock guard as you push the tab to get the hook to release.

brendadave , thanks so much for the help. it worked great , sure made the difference . at least now it opens very easy, once you get the right info. wish i had a manual on the trailer, would make small problems like this seem even smaller, as nothing was wrong, except , i didn`t know how it was done. have it fixed now , and looking forward to going out camping . thanks everyone for the help , Garry .
