How do you place your microwave in your RV.
Would like to do a small poll on this for all the TT's that have a microwave .

Wait
I just got a microwave. and I placed it on the bed. :) you didn't have that as a choice.
It was a gift, so I'll have to figure out how and where, in a cabinet somewhere, but I don't think I like carpet. (sorry, Steven, I'm really tired today. I'm not rational with I'm tired.)

On carpet
Never had a microwave in either of our two 16 footers. In the 17 footer, we have a tiny $60 Walmart special ... just set it in the cabinet and don't worry about it (closing in on two years now).
As a matter of fact, we have wax paper and aluminum foil cartons stuck on either side ... partly because it's an easy place to store em .. but also keeps the microwave from shifting.
Now, we don't microwave a 60 minute roast or something. Just a couple of minutes reheating or maybe popping popcorn.
Pam also "cycles" warming up stuff. Run for a minute. Rest for a minute. Run for a minute. She even does this at home, because she read/heard/feels it does a more uniform job of warming.

On skids
Our little GE micro has vents on the bottom, and it nestled down too much in that luxurious Casita carpeting.:reye2
Solution: put two 1x2's, front-to-back under the micro, drilled holes allowing the micro legs to slip down into those holes. Put velcro on the bottom of the 1x2's to keep the whole thing from sliding around. We've used this method for over a year and 7 or 8 thousand miles, including off-road, and everything has stayed in place. (As Charles does, we use the area between the micro for foil, wax paper, baggie boxes, etc.--that works in a Casita 17 SD anyway.)
Also don't forget to keep some ''ballast'' inside the micro when traveling to keep the turntable from flopping around. Some have kept the original foam packing for this. We keep bread, cereal, stuff like that, in there when we're on the road.

Steve,
What microwave did you find for your 16 SD? Did it fit without a problem?
Thanks
Bill

Kind of Microwave
I have a GE microwave I got at Wal-Mart. With just the carpet it fits perfect! But I tried a peice of 1/4 inch panneling on top of the carpet and now it is too tall. I am thinking if I put some linolium on the carpet that should do the trick.

Steve, if you really want the linoleum beneath your mickeywave, you can just rip out the carpet in the bottom of the cabinet. It won't hurt. (You can keep it and put it back later, if you don't like the linoleum.)
Or maybe get sheep shears (I have some for my dog) and clip the carpet pile shorter? (There's no going back on this one, although you could still rip out the carpet and put in a different, color-coordinating piece, if you ever felt you needed to.)

Here's my microwave... took a photo of it.
Well here is a photo of my microwave.
I just went to Home Depot and I tried to get a square piece of linolium 20 inches and they wanted $40.00. Well I can tell you I said forget that.
Sooo, what I did was wander around in the flooring section and what I found was in the section where you get the long rolls of carpet for runners in hallways they had a clear roll that was wide enough for the area I needed.
I got enough to make 3 if I wanted. I had my plywood that was too thick so I traced my wood that fit in the microwave area to the runner. Cut it to fit and whalla! Looks great, keeps carpet away from microwave so that it can breath and looks good to boot.
Here is a photo of her in.

What I like about the clear runner is it still matches the carpet because you see the carpet through it!
