I have a 2008
Scamp standard, layout 1, with the following options:
furnace, screen door, silverware drawer, kitchen window, city water, gravel shield,
battery pack, icebox only, no
fridge. I have the original purchase contract from the first owner. It shows a base price of $7495 and $1009 in options, for a total MSRP of $8504 before shipping.
NADA indicates a base MSRP of $7795, and a current average retail value of $5515.
Observations:
- Configuration and option choices are very generic, geared to large RVs, and do not align with Scamp's pricing menu.
- Both the MSRP and the average retail price are low, though not outrageously so given the crudeness of the configuration set-up.
- Based on this test, I would not completely laugh off NADA valuations, but I would weigh it along with other data.
- NADA makes no provision for significant renovations, so it is really only useful for newer trailers in original condition.
Judging by recent sales of similar units, I'd put the real-world value at $500 to $1000 higher than NADA.
