Hydroflame brc 10 Furnace

Hi.

I have a lead on a Hydroflame brc 10 Furnace that I am hoping will fit in the sink cabinet of my 1972 Boler 13 ft. I am hoping that some of you folks will respond by saying, "that's the exact furnace I have in my 1972 Boler 13 ft". I could also use the dimensions of the furnaces rectangular metal box as I believe it's supposed to fit in that small space against the wheel well.

Is yours installed beside the rear bed or next to the fridge? Thanks in advance.

Mine is installed next to the bed. The boler American has a small "notch" or depression in the wheel well to provide room for the furnace. I'm not sure if any of the regular bolers have this feature.

I sold a 8012-II Atwood Furnace to a customer in Reno who installed it in a Boler.

I just picked up the Hydroflame brc 10 Furnace. You won't believe this. The older fellow bought it new in the 70's with the intention of installing it in a camper he was working on. After seeing his place he had many, many projects started but unfinished, the camper being one of them. The furnace was never installed and had never been fired! Brand new in the box with all venting and grills. Also came with two 12 volt fans (one with a Hydroflame label) that I don't believe are for this model and a new LP gas regulator. All for $150.

The furnace is about 1 1/2" too deep to install under the sink because of the wheel well. Will have to create a spacer or maybe install it in the lower part of the closet and let it sit on the other wheel well. Anyway, I think I scored big time.

Now that I have seen a picture of it, no.

But I did find a picture of the installation manual the OP may find useful.

Mine came with those same instructions and I will submit it for the document center, likely on the weekend. Also have instructions for one of the included fans. The fan install is rather odd because it shows the BRC-10 with no gas controls under the round burner chamber, therefore allowing a space for the fan. Makes me wonder how the burner cycles on and off unless there was another model of the BRC-10 that had the controls outside the unit. Anyway, without studying it in more detail I don't see how I can incorporate the fan not that I really want too (battery drain, noise, etc).

You may want to see if you can wire the fan separately with an on/off switch. It may come in helpful for when you want to quickly heat the trailer then be able to turn the fan off and let the gravity portion take over to maintain the temperature. That would help lower the load on a battery.

I see that it includes an on/off switch for the fan. Draining your battery should not be an issue. To be safe, you might want to change the switch to one that lights up when the power is on or put a LED into the circuit.

Thanks for your suggestions Roy. I do like the idea of incorporating the fan for a quick warm up in the boler. When the weather warms up and I can get to the actual install, I'll look at these options in more detail.

On another note, I recently saw a link to a good trouble shooting guide or "how it works" for Gravity furnaces but be darned if I can find it again. Any idea where it might be hiding? This one is for a friend who has a Duo-Therm model with issues. Thanks.
