I am back w/a problem

I sold my first 13' Scamp about 6 yrs ago & at the age of 75 bought another 13'.

I replaced the axle on my first one & my current one also has a sagging axle.

I am looking for a alternative to replacing my axle......like a coil spring
attached to the cantelever part of the axle to lift the body.

Does any one have a suggestion or has any one solved this problem w/out replacing the axle?

Air shocks and/or air bag.

May be costly to fabricate it to the axle.
May be less costly to just replace the axle.

Also keep in mind that the "sag" is the result of the rubber that encases the axle wearing out. This will also lead to misalignment and possible separation of the axle from the tube it's encased in by that rubber.
I had mine replaced with Flexiride for less than $800.00.

You really need to replace the axle. This is a good opportunity to add brakes, too, if you don't have them. Axles are not that expensive, particularly if you do a little research to find a good price.

I'll take your advice & replace the axle. Currently I can not get down on the ground to inspect it....I am due for a hip replacement the 24th so it will be months before I can do the replacement but, I can go ahead & get the axle.

The last time I bought a Dexter axle & made it trailing vs leading. A lot of welding & metal work.

Where is a good place to buy a axle?

If you live near Scamp they are reported to be reasonable except for shipping

I'll add that they are putting torsion axles on boat trailers now days. Buddy is looking at replacing his leaf springs with torsion axles. That maybe another option for a place to get the work done.

I went to a local trailer repair shop & they said they could sell me the axle for $250 & installation would be $250, which includes putting my brakes from my axle to the new.....

I am inclined to do it myself so I can turn the axle 180 degrees but, my wife says no.

Forgot to ask him who the axle mfg was....

Don-St cloud ,fl

ps-thats with my little 7 or 8" brakes

That sounds like a great idea. Listen to your wife.

Now if my wife could just talk me out of getting on the roof.............

I bought mine from scamp. Price wasn't bad, and you know it will fit.
