The fitting that Walts sold me was all wrong, it didn't fit over the hose.. but.. I stopped at Giant RV during the week and bought every fitting that even came close to what I have. They had toilets I could try them on too.

It turned out to be the same fitting used on water pumps. I used my idea of putting a hose clamp over the nut to give me something to push on with the needle nose pliers when I turned it. Worked great!

I AM going to put a shut off valve in the line, however. If it doesn't hold, I can shut the supply to the bog off and still use everything else. I can even flush with other water in an emergency.

So persistance pays off again Your idea of adding a shut-off, like at home, is just as wise in a TT.
She who blows smoke..., has a native American ring to it , but I'm not so sure of "She who blows smoke and tows McMansion".

The plumbing system in mine (and probably in yours) is indeed made with Flair-It fittings, I just looked it up. I used to slip the tubing onto the little dears after using a stove lighter to soften it up. But, apparently that is a no-no. They say to use a hair dryer/heat gun to do that safely.

I am on my second toilet valve.It does not always shut off by itself at times so I just pull up a little on the lever. The shut-off idea is a good one and I will do that too at the same time I do the inspection hatch mod.

I can just see us halfway up the Alcan having to deal with this aggravation. Not going to happen. Now I have to go to work on the noisy water pump, etc. Isn't it nice that there is always something to do on these things?!

This is what all the fuss has been about. With Gina's heroic efforts to inspire and my own traumatic memories prodding me I had to make an access panel to be able to do what she did plus replace the valve should it go belly up.

The access from the bathroom is just about impossible, at least to replace the valve.

All the pieces are screwed in and can be removed from the outside. I saved the inner and the outer piece of fiberglass and just put them back in the frame, but we are thinking of using this as a rotating picture frame. To that end the screws are actually S.S. machine screws going into threaded inserts so they will not wear and go loose on me.

The problem is that it is near the floor, so the possiblities are limited: picture of the dog, a matching maple panel, a mirror (if the dog becomes even more vain), pictures of a steak, a cat, or of the mailman. That's cruel.

I must add my 2 cents worth here, as we just had to fit a new gasket on our "Loo" (for the Brits among us) I don't know how you're "supposed" to do it, but I ended up with my hand down inside the toilet, through the thingy that opens and shuts with the flush.........so that the screws wouldn't fall into the holding tank! I have long fingers and smallish hands, so it worked, but I'm pretty sure there must be a better way? My husband is big boned with giant hands and just could not have done it, not to mention the knee replacement and curling up in that little space. Great incentive to stay flexible and not get too fat.............
