There is no plate to be found. Scamp uses a metal stamp to put the numbers/letters on the inside of the "A" frame just behind the coupler. You may have to scrape away some paint and or rust there and they will probably still be faint at best. Good luck and happy camping!

All i was able to find on my 81 Scamp was a barely legible paper label on the inside of the right frame tube just behind the coupler,if there is anything stamped there i didnt see it. The number was E-1-XXXX.Yours being an Acorn is probably about the same vintage so may be similar.I got some stamps and stamped it clearly on the frame tube just inboard of the welded on jack mounting plate as that paper label may not be readable the next time someone needs those numbers. Hi Matt

Go to my web site - http://scamp.n0kfb.org/ - click on "Scamp VIN decoding" and click on ". Click for a picture of a typical VIN and label "

For folks searching, it should be noted that most models of Scamps (and Bolers?) and other eggs had the serial numbers stamped into the metal on TOP of the curbside A-frame member, with the paper label stuck to the inside of the frame. There may be layers of paint over the stamped numbers and a flashlight held parallel to the A-frame top may also help in finding and reading them.
