Trailer: 76 Trillium 13 ft
Posts: 3
I am renovating a '76 13 foot Trillium. I picked up a new ice box and 2 burner stove but they are slightly smaller than the cutouts. Any suggestions for what to use to 'shrink' the size of the openings. I thought about stainless for the cook top but it is a white enamel. The ice box I took out had a wood frame around it which was pretty tacky. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Mike, do you have any photos to show what materials you are working with?

My first thoughts without seeing anything would be to build a new countertop, and some kind of matching trim around the icebox.

Hi Jim. The counter top is fiberglass, in fact the whole cabinet, top included is one piece. I was thinking maybe some kind of metal extension, I do want to try and retain the original look as much as possible

Ah yeah, I have seen the inside of these trailers a couple times before. I forgot about the fiberglass cabinet. Your idea of using a metal plate to extend the size would work, but it would probably not blend in well, and take away from the original look as well. My first thought would be to try to find a stove and icebox that would fit into the existing opening or ones that would require a minimum increase in the opening size. Is this not possible?

Thanks Jim. I have bought the new appliances and though the gap left is small I don't think I can get anything else that would fit better having looked around quite a bit. I am thinking of maybe building a complete new counter-top of plywood and formica and then for the fridge do some kind of metal banding. Thanks for the ideas. Mike
