If traveling alone, I would opt for a 16 footer with side dinette. Don't need a 5th wheel since sleeping area doesn't need to be isolated to accommodate early vs late risers. With side dinette bed can be left made up as side dinette provides eating/sitting area when indoors. 16 footer allows bathroom leaving adequate elbow room in main area of camper. Just my opinion.

I'm a single traveler. Money IS an object. But, I'm now staring down retirement and "If Not Now.. WHEN?" I'm following Alf's lead. He purchased his first Escape 5th wheel about five years before retirement and took a loan out to get it. The plan was to have it paid-off prior to retirement. I pickup my new Escape 5.0TA June 30. This is the perfect, forever, trailer for me. A full-time comfortable place to sleep, great u-shape dinette for lounging/conversation and a kitchen counter that's more than 5' long. (I chop lots of fruit and vegetables!)

However, if I could... I'd keep my current 1988 16' Scamp Deluxe. Love that trailer. Great for my current camping style and would look great behind my (still in the body shop) 1953 Ford Panel. But alas, storage is a concern. The Scamp resides under a carport that will need to be vacated for the 5er. So, the Scamp will need to go to someone who would use it and love like I do.

BUT>>>>>>>>> I'd still like to have a Scamp Motorhome

But Donna remember money is no problem on this thread.... so you can keep the Scamp - just rebuild your house so you have a way of park both trailers or put one in a nice secure heated storage don't you wish? LOL

There are 2 of us. I could have gotten any of them but we're going with the new Escape 5th wheel like Donna, but 2 weeks earlier.

I'm with Francesca...and most others by having a second.
I'd still have Boler #183, it'd just look a lot nicer Then I'd have an escape 17B for longer trips and a happy wife.

I would still keep my Biggar, just fix it up. 19ft is big enough for myself and 1 large dog to travel in. If I ever started to full-time, still big enough and when the grandchildren start coming it will be big enough for them too!

If I won the $1000 bucks a week for life I would quit my job and probably take off with my ParkLiner and be fine... but if it was retirement and I could swing an escape 5th wheel I would love to call that home. I would be traveling alone and the separate bedroom is nice if people come by.

I'd probably stay with my Scamp for now. . Been full-time in it for 3 years. But if starting with a clean slate I might go with a Parkliner, after seeing the specs. More head room.

This counts as fiberglass, doesn't it?

The trailer has our Jeep, four wheelers, SeaDoos, and snow mobiles in it.Well, you said money was no object.....

Darrell you are the FIRST pure full-timer in a 16' Scamp I've come across (Norm and Ginny are close to full-timers, but not quite). Pleased to meet you. Three years at it is a nice number for me to ponder. Hope all's going well for you out there on the road.

I'm envious, I can't wait to retire and hit the open road and be a nomad/gypsy wanderer!

Given Unlimited Resources

I would probably select a true custom built trailer, definitely not bigger than 19 feet. None of the fiberglass trailers we've seen are our dream trailer.

Actually Ginny doesn't seem to be wanting anything else while I occasionally muse over the trailer that could be.

We're not after more storage, a bigger bed, or....., mostly we want more time to travel together.

I assume we'll finish our traveling career with our Scamp 16; maybe 5 more loops of the North America, another cross Labrador and 6 more trips to Newfoundland.

We are truly comfortable in what we have, making little improvements as they come up.

Ginny has a saying about being happy.

"Happiness is not in having what you want but rather being happy with what you have."

P.S. Sharon M. We average about 225 days a year on the road.

Ginny really is wise but always very happy. Her happiness has rubbed off on me over the last 57 years, almost 50 married. If one is gifted in life, she is mine.

If money was no object......................

I would keep my Snoozy. Have it vinyl wrapped or custom painted.

Then I would buy/build a cabin in the mountains. Use the Snoozy to get there.
I would build a private camp site in all the places I wanted to camp. Use the
Snoozy to get there.

I'd also buy the top of the line Teardrop Trailer or have one custom made
for those times in the back woods. I could share the kitchen with the camp
mates but wouldn't be expected to share the bed with them........LOL

Then I'd fly to Europe, purchase a nice Euro Camper and travel the country.

And the winner is...

Tada!!!! And the winner is....

Most of Escape owners answered "I will buy bigger Escape trailer". 90% of others answered "I will keep my current trailer".

Looks like a trend

Deryk,

Fortunately it doesn't take a $1000 a week to travel, per day costs drop the more you use the trailer, the longer you stay in one place and the less you drive per day.

Though I admit it would be nice to get a weekly check like that.

I'm trying for the million dollars a year for life
and also pass it down to an heir.

But I like to breathe, so I'm not holding my breath.
