Looking for help with installing a American 20 Amp converter charger in my 13' scamp. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for install? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
DavidS

Hi David, I can't help with the diagram (yet), but we just bought a 13' Scamp and I'd like to add one of those too. Where did you get the converter? Is it the same one that is optional from Scamp?

Time to change your profile! You can do that through "My Controls."

we purchased a 20amp american converter for our 13' scamp from e-bay seller cat023 for 59.99 buy it now (got it less than 2 days later). the instructions are really useless however and i would like a diagram also, or at least some advice. scamp makes sure they don's give model #s since they charge $160, but i'm sure it's the same model (looks identical).

We have a couple of manuals in the Document Center for the American Enterprise converters. maybe you'll find something that will help...

Subject: 20amp American Converter
Called Scamp, not a fruitful experience. Called American and got a very helpful tech. He recommends that you cut off the black wire that is pigtailed, at the pigtail. put in a 30 amp fuse on first available space at left (not the bar connector at top left). hook black wire to bottom of 30 amp fuse and it will protect the remaining fuses hooked to bar. As far as the battery input, the first to left fuse opening is for charger but the battery input positive can be hooked to ANY of the remaining openings. hook hot to one of the lugs below the fuses and place a 20 amp fuse in slot. the negative battery wire should be hooked to ground lug on back of converter. there is a (misleading) detailed photo if you click on the american site and then click on product models, or something like that. it is nice photography and shows the basics but is not at all thorough (which i mentioned to the tech.) I'm going to hook mine up and if it works you won't hear from me. If it doesn't, I will let you know.
