I am trying to install a battery and case on the front of my Boler? This might be a very simple install lfor some but I am having a problem and I do not want my battery to fall off the trailer during transport. How do I fasten the battery box to the plate.I imagine i screw it on but will this be enough to hold the box and battery in place?I thought about strapping it to to plate as an extra precation.Any help would be appreciated.... Pat

I am planning to install a battery into my 5500 Trillium - previous owners had wanted to do so and installed brackets on the frame but had never completed the job. The brackets are simple angle iron across the frame 'A' with holes drilled through - I intend to put bolts thru the bottom of the marine case I bought and attach nuts from the underside of the brackets - should be very straight forward.

In our 1300, the battery just sat inside the marine battery box - no hold-downs necessary. I will have to create spacers for inside the new box - bought a 27 series case (to accomodate larger batteries in future) but currently have an almost new 24 series deep cycle battery. I have pails of wood scraps from my woodworking (non-trailering season) hobby so that should not be a problem...

Pat & Garth,
I installed an additional battery on the tongue of"Nuestra Casita" using a plastic marine battery box. It is designed to have a strap around it which keeps the box top in place. To preserve the original leak-proof integrity of the box, & prevent the possibility of bolts corroding underneath the battery, a 1 1/2", "footman loop" was bolted on each side to the box supports. They are outside of, & centered on each long side of the box. The strap was then run through each loop, the box set on the strap and between the loops. The battery was then placed in the box, electrical cables attached to the battery, lid installed, and strap tightened around the box.
Instead of using the original strap, I used a shortened, ratcheting tie-down strap because that seemed more secure.
Hopefully you can understand this rather lengthy explanation.

If the term "footman loop" is new to you, google it. Most off-road /4wd shops and really well-equipped hardware businesses have them in stock or can order them.

Maybe your imagination can improve on our solution, but this has worked for us in excess of 10,000 miles on the road.

Our mechanic installed a battery box for us. It's low in the frame as the handle on the front leveler is quite low. Here are some pics:

For all the great advise on installing a battery case on my trailer.I just finished and I am satified that it is solidly anchored in place.I used two bolts to secure it to the plate(didn't crack the box as I was afraid I might). Then I used a rachet type tightener just to make sure. Thanks again for all the help....Pat.
