I would like to make a cheap voltmeter tester. Buy a cigarette lighter adapter

Using the 2 leads from the voltmeter, hook them up to the cigarette lighter adapter. Now plug this setup into a cigarette lighter socket and you have a cheap voltmeter gauge to keep an eye on your battery.__________________________WOULD THIS WORK? I have a cigarette lighter socket in the Scamp now.

Or if all you were interested in is measuring the battery level, you could go buy something like this (It's all they do, and are most likely as accurate as a cheapy DVM)

Stick it in yer socket

for about the same price and none of the labor or battery changing.

Wally World has them for around 12 bucks.

I have one and it is close enough for our needs.

My First idea would be about $5.00 Total cost. $3.00 for the tester http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/disp...temnumber=90899 and $2.00 for the plug.
Thanks for the information . I will make one for the scamp.

If someone wants to spend more and have a built-in volt and/or amp meter, check out this post on the Casita forum: http://www.casitaforum.com/invboard/index....ic=3090&hl=
