Can a jumpit be used to directly plug in an electrical appliance?

Do these only work to power 12v/car adaptor type small electrics?

Some have a 110 converter on them to run small 110 loads and they will all run most 12 volt apliances such as Tv and VCR's Durring dry camps I allways run the TV on mine as Most TV' are bothered by any other load such as your pump. i also run a small fan at night.:wave

That's what I was thinking, Lyndon. if it has the outlet then it should work if the appliance doesn't take too much juice. I do think some only have the 12V outlet. So remember to look for a 110 outlet if that's what you need.

I was going to get one with the AC outlet, then thought better of it. Someone pointed out that I could by a small inverter and a larger jumpit and have more power and flexibility for less money.

:shg Don't know if that's true, but I got a really good jump it for a lot less than the other one I was looking at. I haven't gotten the inverter yet, but will when the need arises.

Halloween '98, eastern Colorado had a monster snow storm; 4-5'+ on level ground. We were without power for several days.
Sheriffs Dept emergency services (me) phone bank (cellular phones) kept going with the help of jumpits. So the answer is yes, they can operate 12v stuff.

Hi.
We just purchased one with 2 AC and 1 DC outlets. You can plug in several AC appliances as long as you don't go over the total rating of the jumpit.

Mine was a good price for built in AC outlets, inverter and such. However, the instructions say " do not use with any appliance that creates heat, such as toasters" etc.

Is there a shelf life for these jumpits?

Where did some of you purchase them and how much do they run? I figure with my electrical concerns, this may be stowed in a safe spot or used for a appliance.

Oh well, that shoots down my plan to use one with a hot plate or a ceramic disc heater. Still, I'll add one to my list of "One Day I'll Get One" things - ahead of the Jaguar and behind the two burner propane stove.

1. Available at auto parts stores or Walmart, in several different capacities/configurations.
2. Mine is about 10 yrs old. Never been a problem.
