Just purchased a 13ft 81 Scamp ..We have several things to redo

Looking out my window @ what we bought!!

Still happy but .. several litttle things .. we want to do!
We bought her in MO yesterday and pulled it home to Dallas TX took us 14 hours with no problems!
We looked for a small fiberglass unit for about a month..

We are ready to get this party started!

I have seen several post about repairing seams
Is the home improvement store stock flexable vinyl molding best to redo seams? ( the original tape is discolored and missing in spots)

I wonder how hard or how costly to replace our side windows?

Can we maybe add a larger windows similar to the one in the front & back?
Can the body be cut out to put a larger windows in?
what type of issues? if we do install larger ones?
Seems this year scamp must have come with and has a square shape aluminum frame windows along sides with oblong vinyl / rubber edged ones in front and back? I would like the larger style windows all the way around?

Carol, congratulations on your find. We are on our 2nd 13' Scamp and love them. Our front and rear rubber mounted windows were plexiglass on our 1984, but our 1990 rear window is an aluminum slider. The fiberglass is molded differently from our 1st, as it is molded to have a flat surface for the flat aluminum frame, and the 1st plexiglass window curved to fit the curve of the fiberglass. Unless yours is molded for the flat surface, or unless you plan to rework it to a flat surface, you'll have to stay with the original. The side windows can be enlarged somewhat, but remember that the fiberglass IS the structure to hold up the roof, so don't over do it. Scamp still sells the seam tape to replace the missing or yellowed tape. Some here on the forum have removed the tape and filled the seam gaps with flexible/paintable calking that had been textured with a wet paper towel or rag while it was still curing, then they painted all the ensolite. Good luck with your personalizing touches, and Happy Trails
Dave & Paula

Welcome, great find and you towed it quite the distance with no problems!
If you get the seam tape from Scamp just remember to add extra strong adhesive as the stuff it comes with does not last long, otherwise I quite liked it when I used it and it is very reasonably priced. They have lots of other bits and pieces too.

I like the idea of flexable caulk and texturing that... and then paint!
We have gotten very good a caulking!

Carol,

I think I might have talked to you at a gas station. Is you Scamp the one that had about 50 bumper stickers on the back?
