Kayak racks?

We resolved this dilemma four years ago by purchasing the Oru folding kayaks. They fit nicely in our back seat and have served us well in Acadia, Banff, Voyagers, and most recently Glacier National Park.
It is really nice not to have to choose between gas mileage and the opportunity to experience these national parks in a way relatively few others do.

30 minutes into our trip we ditched our Costco Pelicans at a friends house as the racket was unnerving. Then we were hearing much of the noise just from the racks! Research shows with Thule square bars you need to wrap with bungee or use Thule fairing. Anyway, after hauling those boats for some 40K miles we decided to go inflatable with two Star Paragon kayaks.

Not a method that I would recommend, but recently I saw a pickup go by my house with two kayaks in the bed standing on end. They were probably 9 footers.
