leaking around the air conditioner

I get the sinking feeling , the seal around the air conditioner is leaking allowing the water to drip inside. The trailer is a Bigfoot 5th wheel. 1988. The leak is coming out of the AC unit . Does anyone have an idea for a simple fix?

There is a standard foam gasket between the a/c and the roof.

A temporary repair may be made by removing the inside cover and tightening the 3 or 4 long securing bolts. Any RV store will have a universal replacement gasket but, as ya gotta get on top to change it, try tightening the mounting bolts a bit first.

Lots of kind and helpful people here on the forum and lots of good info in the archives.

Simple... usually goes hand-in-hand with temporary. Whatever you do, DON'T glob silicone around the outside on the exterior. THAT is a temporary solution that can turn into a permanent problem. Since winter isn't far off, and if Bob's idea doesn't fix the problem, perhaps you'd want to remove the A/C unit and fix it so it lasts leak-free for years.

Above link is a pictorial on AC gasket replacement which will give you some hints of what, at worst, can be involved in replacement. Expedient silicone dams only cause more problems, per Donna's advice. Removing the inside cover and taking a couple of turns on the four bolts in the clamp frame should be tried first, per Bob's. you will probably need a socket set with an extension to get a couple of the bolts. Don't squash the gasket completely or distort the clamp frame/hanging bracket for the inner cover. Hint: You can see what effect you're having on the gasket thickness while you're snugging the bolts.
