Ok, Ok....I'm guilty!

Our (new to us) 16' VT windows were resealed by the previous owner within the past year - yet just the other day during a rain storm, I ran out to the 'egg' to make sure she was ok (it was thundering too ya know!) and there they were.....2 streaming leaks from 2 of the rear windows.

Ok, so I watch, wipe and wait. More water slowly leaking in from these newly resealed windows. Water was coming from some where in the gasket area. Husband not being home the next day, I ran to the hardware store and purchased some clear caulk...I was determined to fix the leaks that everyone talks about!

So I caulked where there wasn't, and 2 days later it rains again - I run out to see if my caulk job worked - viola! Dry as a bone!

Am I bad? I just wanted the to stop!? So I got a little crazy, and went caulking-wild and yesssss, even closed up some weap holes...bad? Should I dig them out? Caulk is still white and not clear yet. I just wanted to seal her all up! Mom can't be home everytime it rains to make sure the inside doesn't get wet - I've had a pop-up and a tent - I went to a fiberglass trailer to sleep in a dry bed!!

Sorry for being this way...I just didn't know.

Carol,

I'm not experienced enough -- yet -- with the egg to answer your question. I'm sure someone will chime in.

However, cleaning the weep holes did NOT remedy my leaking rear windows. Went out to wash my new (old) EGG yesterday and the windows were pouring water into the trailer.

Having said that my intuition is that the weep holes should never be caulked. The ARE there for a purpose. Same is true with some types vinyl or aluminum windows in residential structures.
