Just kidding..ours has the little Casita snap lock..we rarely use the shower anyways except when dry camping..prefer to use campground bathouses if possible.
Not the shower in the Scamp, the dead bolt was in the shower room of the campground. I used a screen door latch when I built the door for the Scamp bathroom!

Update: Casita service called us back yesterday. They are sending us a new door lock. To be continued.

When we picked up our Escape last year it had an extremely hard to open door.

I was pushing it in and pulling the handle and it still took enough force to open that I was concerned the metal would break. Oddly this only happened after we had towed it to the next location . After we initially opened it the door worked fine until we traveled again.

Ours turned out to be the striker installed backwards in the door frame. The thin part was out and wore a groove in the latch.

It started acting up after we had driven 500 or so miles and by the time I finally figured what was wrong was almost impossible to open.

Thumbs up Oh, the ol’ “Deadbolt failed and locked my wife in” alibi. I’ll have to remember that

[QUOTE=Dennis mn;705775]Read this thread last evening, then spent the next hour and a half removing the door of a shower stall after the dead bolt failed and locked my wife in!

The Scamp had wet bath and no city water hookup; so we always used campground showers. The new trailer has a separate shower, and city water, so we now don’t use campground showers. This was not the only reason that we traded.

Cool ooops

Been there..we found that pushing IN on the side if the trailer at the rear of the door @ the lock allows up to open it.

Had this problem yesterday on our 2018 LD. It was very windy throughout the day. Maybe the frame twisted a little from the wind. We only use the deadbolt too. Grabbed the door by the frame and lifted, twisted, pulled and it came free. Lubed lock immediately and all appeared normal. I did notice the 2 mount screws for the lock mechanism were loose so I tightened those. All seems back to normal after 20 or so door openings. Good luck

Locked Out-Casita 17’ SD2018

The end of the story is that Casita sent us a new locking mechanism. ( The “push in “ solution worked most of the time; however, we had to leave our escape window open in case it didn’t.). Once installed, all is well.
Happy camping season to all!
