Marker lens cracks

Our Trillium came with Bargman marker lights. I am continually finding the lenses cracked. We had the same experience with our previous trailer. I suspect that the reason is moisture freezing and expanding over winter but it might just be vibration. Do folks who live in the sun belt, whose trailers never see freezing temperatures, have this problem? Do others have the problem? Any suggestions on a cure? Raz

It could be any reason. Vibration, UV damage, heat from the bulbs (is a problem with the front markers on the 02 Trans Ams). You could look at replacing them with LED fixtures and that may solve the issue.

We have LED taillights, and live in the south, but travel far north. No issues to report.

I replaced ally lenses the year I brought the 5500 home, and have not had an issue since, but maybe mine don't seal well enough to trap water inside. I do live in a hard winter area

Just a suggestion, but there's always a gasket used to seal lenses to housings. Why not make your own gasket material out of butyl putty tape? Works for windows, should seal exteriors lights as well.

Just replace the lights with LED's, they are brighter and use less power and they last longer too.

Lots of good input, but, just to be clear. I am not concerned with the lights. I am just trying to trouble shoot why the lens covers are cracking. You see if the little bit of moisture that gets in behind the lens is causing cracks due to our local climate, then other parts of the trailer could be affected as well. I was just curious if others were experiencing the same issue. If folks not in the frozen north are having trouble then vibration, not freezing, is the culprit. My apology for not being clearer. Raz

The cracking is in my guess, caused by heat build up and vibration.
