Massive fire extinguisher recall

Kidde has announced a recall of 37 million extinguisher, check your camper's.
Our 1999 Casita came with a model 210D that is on the list.
Here's the consumer Product Safety Recall.

Go to Kidde Fire Safety Products: Shop Smoke Alarms, Carbon Monoxide Detectors, Fire Extinguishers and fill out a online form and a new one will be sent.

I just called Kidde and gave them my model number and they said it was not included in the recall which was good news.

The one in my 2015 Casita was on the list. All you have to do is fill out the form and they will send you a replacement. They will include instructions on what to do with the old one.

Thanks for posting this!

Joe, Thanks for the link, I just registered my 2 new(probably 3 months old) fire extinguishers to be replaced. The link says 15 to 20 business days.

Just a heads up! I have one on the US recall list but not on the Canadian recall list. I cannot register on the US site due to Canadian address and cannot do the Canadian site due to the fact that that the model is not listed. I will have to phone next week, I guess.

This may be a problem for people that have imported a trailer in either direction, USA to Canada (like me) or Canada to USA.

My '06 SD had the M5P dated '06 on the bottom. I called them to verify and after 17 minutes, done. Sure is going to take a long time for 37 million .

Thanks for the reminder. The one in my kitchen at home is on the recall list but I forgot about the one on the trailer. [emoji91]

Phoned the US side of the recall and had no problems other than the model number. Mine was a XL 2-1/2 TCZ-3 and the recall listed a XL 2.5 TCZ-3 (must be a metric thing ) The lady on the phone was great except the postal code threw her for a moment and the zed zee thing (hey its a Canadian Z)

Yes failure to discharge or nozzle clogging in use would be something really good to avoid. I have I think three to check. Garage, Kitchen, camper.

The garage one, and the camper one I check the gauge for proper charge as sort of a routine thing. Kitchen one I sort of ignore. I guess I should add checking it to when I do my smoke detectors when daylight savings time switches.

Received one of three replacements today.

It came with a prepaid return Fed-X label.

Exactly one week

If you don't have a working fire extinguisher use a two liter bottle of soda pop.

Turns out the trailer has a First Alert so should be fine.

Wouldn't recommend that on a grease fire, especially in close quarters.

Kidde sells fire extinguishers under many brand names and some of those are also under recall, so you need to check, not just assume. I don't think First Alert is involved in the recall though.
