maxxair fan installation.

I just installed a maxxair 5100k fan on the roof of my Casita. My ceiling/roof is about 7/8" thick and the trim for the interior is supposed to be screwed to the ceiling. But...in a Casita the ceiling is foam backed carpet....nothing to screw to. Has anyone else dealt with this issue and what did you do?

Steve my ParkLiner's ceiling is similar, carpet and bubblewrap insulation. Mine had a wooden trim ring on the inside that is screwed up into the fiberglass just along the inside edges of the opening in the ceiling...covered by the hatch fan when it is installed...I kept it the same...are you adding a new hatch or upgradeing? I used the white trim ring from my original fantastic fan...it was a close enough fit.

Steve not sure on a max air but on a fantastic fan they give you a 1/4foam gasket . Buy a 24x24 sheet of 1/2 inch plywood and use that gasket as a template and cut the ply in one solid piece table saw is the easiest way but you can do it with a jigsaw or something similar .place that piece on the ceiling and screw down from the roof . Drill a small pilot hole first as this will allow the screws to pull the ply tight to the ceiling have someone hold the plywood from inside but make sure you don't drill through there fingers .the inside trim ring should then cover the plywood with only the 1/2 inch edge showing
