I was about to order one from Serta via Overstock when I read reviews that said it smelled. The ones I've gotten from Costco were fine- but they don't have that kind anymore. Who has bought one from Walmart or Overstock or elsewhere, and did it have a strong odor? Did the odor go away?

I ordered the 4" memory foam from Overstock about 18 months ago... don't remember any new "smell" and it doesn't smell now. But maybe my nose doesn't work so well...

I have a king size one from Costco...I remember it was like fighting a bear just to unroll it, and then it took nearly a week for it to fully plump up and destinkify, it was soooo compressed when I got it. I think even the paperwork warned of this urethane odor situation. But now, ahhhhh, I can't imagine life without it. Make sureyou have a coverlet for it because it's rubbery and tidbits stick to it.

I got a 2" from Overstock It did smell but after a while it fluffed out and no longer smelled. I use a sheet set to wrap the topper in It keep you from picking the dog hair off with a tweezer

We have a memory foam topper on our mattress as well as memory foam pillows. Yea, they smell for a few weeks after you unpack them, but the smell level goes down over time. We unpacked out last set of memory foam pillows -- we have them for our bed at home and in the trailer now -- and left them to air out for a month before we started using them, and by then the smell was long gone.
