The insulation on my Campster is black rats fur. It's nice and clean, looks good- but it's black. I'm thinking up color schemes and would like to lighten up the interior. I don't think I'm going to cover the cushions right away but want to redo the curtains and paint the cabinets. I don't want plain old black and white, I like colors like red and forest green. Any ideas?

Everything goes with black!
If you like red or forest green - or any other kind-of-dark colors - I'd suggest a print for the uphostery and curtains. That way you get some deep colors but also, hopefully, some light colors (white, yellow, cream) mixed in the print.
Pick a really light color from the print upholtery for the cabinets, etc.
Sounds challenging - will look forward to seeing the pictures!!

Look at fabric by Michael Miller (a quick ebay search will give you an idea), he does alot with mixing colors with black. A walk through the decorator fabrics at your local fabric store will give you great ideas--or a bed and bath store.
Neutral colors would look great with black also. I LOVE the interior on this trailer, I hope its ok to copy it back here, anyway this pattern also came in one with blacks instead of browns I believe.

Red, White, and Black. Think 50's Diner. That's what I googled to get Ideas.

Since the walls are already black, use another color in the flooring or cabinets, like turquoise. Co-ordinate the cabinet color with the curtain color, and do the upholstery different. Balance or accent the color with white, like piping and buttons in the upholstery.
OK, that's 4 colors: Black, Red, Turquoise, White...

If you saw our home and both trailers, you'd know that our solution to any decorating dilemma is always to go for the feel of Hawaii. I think that would work great in your Campster too! Here's one idea from Hawaii Fabric Mart.
Good luck and congratulations!

Good ideas, everyone. I think I'll look for a print that I like that has the basic colors I like and would look good with black, and then take a color from that for the cushions. I like the teal idea, might use that for cabinets. I'll see what I can find in fabric, first, I guess.

Dust Ruffle! Dust Ruffle!
Pick your ruffle and base all other ideas from there...
If you wanted a more elegant theme, use gray or matte silver. A light gray carpet, or a faux stone look on the floor is a good start. Brushed chrome stove, fridge and table trim, grey table tops, faux stone counters, light gray paint on the cabinet doors, brushed chrome knobs etc..you get the idea.

I agree totally with Carol. Tans, browns , beige tones etc....However I have seen a pale butter cream yellow with black and it looked beautiful. Daisy prints were added to tie it all together. Looked really fresh and bright....
Happy trails Mitch

They work well, I hate them! I worry about the black and corgi hair but at least I should be able to vacuum it off. I want color. I looked at some fabrics today with teal, yellow, and a bit of red, similar to what I want but I need to find a cheaper source than the quilt shop.

Bobbie,
Go with home. Fresno has lots of oranges and lemons, but don't forget the red/black bulldogs.

Well, I'm going to find a print that includes yellow, teal, and red, on white. I think... Then the cabinets will be some shade of teal/turquoise. Not sure about the cushions yet. I'm also not sure what I'm doing with the floor, but probably leaving it as is for now.

I picked a fabric and ordered it.
I chose it for the corgis! But I also like the light color (the cabinets will be the same background color.) The red in the fabric will let me put in red if I want, the blue, blue. The corgi color is about the color of the good-condition vinyl on my seat cushions (if I replace them with like cushions I'll re-use the vinyl and just change the fabric side, maybe to blue denim.)
Now on to painting! First I have to remove wallpaper accents from the cabinets, though.
